Why send humans into space: Reason #238

Susan Helms has been one of my favorite astronauts since I read an interview with her as she prepared to fly up to the International Space Station as part of the second crew, back in 2001.

Paring down before the flight

Susan Helms evades telemarketers.

Susan Helms evades telemarketers.

In preparation for the flight, Ms. Helms gave up her apartment, put all of her belongings into storage, and left only her bank account open—to receive her checks via auto-deposit.

But what really amused me was a quote—which I can’t find now—in which she said that she hoped that THIS would help her evade telemarketers.

Now I wonder: Do astronauts get spam in their email in space?
