Old Image of the Moon – in 3D!

glassesI recently picked up an old oversized book in a used bookstore. The title is “The Moon As Viewed By Lunar Orbiter.” It was published by NASA in 1970.

There are many great photos of the moon from back then, including the first picture of the earth seen from the moon. All of the photos are in black and white.

But the most fun images are stereoscopic. The book came with 3d glasses—mine were still in an envelope at the back of the book. You’ll have to find your own. (or perhaps make your own!) In any case, I’m providing an image you can enjoy with 3d glasses; it’s a photo of a crater called Aristarchus. It’s 40 kilometers across and 3.6 kilometers deep. Enjoy!
