Snow on Mars!

It wasn’t so long ago when we wondered if there was water on Mars. And, if we found it, we were certain that there would be life.

Now, we get word that frozen water falls from the sky nightly near the Martian north pole. But we still don’t know about life there…

Still, snow…SNOW!…is pretty strange and exciting! And NASA’s Mars Phoenix Lander has confirmed it.

This is the normal weather pattern for the north pole; and it’s possible that Mars has snow in other parts of the planet at high elevations.

Also, scientists suspect that there is a layer of ice somewhere between two and seven inches below the surface at the Mar Phoenix’s landing site.
