Reviewing domestic use of spy satellites
That was the plan for the current National Applications Office (NAO) program, under the jurisdiction of the Office of Homeland Security. New Secretary of Homeland Security, Janet Napolitano is reviewing the program.
The Congress filed an injunction in October 2007, to prevent the NAO program from starting. The objection was based on concerns about violation of civil liberties. A fact sheet produced by Homeland Security (from August 2007) claims that the program includes provisions to protect civil liberties.
