Space population plunges by 54%

More than half the space population comes home.
At least it’s not the stock market. With today’s landing of the shuttle Discovery, seven of the thirteen people who were in space are no longer there.
Record space population
In other words, there were thirteen people in space before the landing (the most ever at the same time), and now it’s down to six. Before the landing, we had: International Space Station (3); Soyuz (3); Discovery (7).
Record may be broken
We might see this record broken in the next year or so—because they are planning to raise the crew of the ISS from 3 to 6.
