Next President May Increase NASA Funding.

Both major party presidential candidates are pledging big increases in NASA’s budget. Whether or not this is a real commitment, or a political move to court the hotly-contested state of Florida is unknown.

In any case, the support for NASA seems to be a bit of a turnaround for both McCain and Obama.

Previously, Obama had suggested delaying NASA’s new Constellation program—the replacement for the retiring shuttle. And McCain, who has promoted a one-year spending freeze for all but the most vital of projects, has now declared NASA to be exempt from his proposed freeze.

Interesting details can be found in a Wall Street Journal article.
