NASA to Space Station: Everybody Out!

ISS: Threatened by a bit of debris.
The International Space Station (ISS) was briefly evacuated today when a 5-inch piece of debris threatened a potentially catastrophic collision.
As the tiny object came close, the crew of the space station went inside a Soyuz spacecraft which is docked at the ISS. The object missed, and the astronauts returned to the station about 11 minutes later. Similar instances have happened several times before, since the ISS began construction in 1998. Usually, the station itself is repositioned. But sometimes, the astronauts flee to safety…as they did in this case.
