NASA Administrator to Obama: Thanks!
NASA’s administrator, Michael Griffin, is a Republican. But his job is to make NASA successful, and he knows that success requires political support.
Dr. Griffin sent a note of thanks to Barack Obama, for his support in allowing NASA to continue purchasing rides to the International Space Station from Russia. Without new legislation, the practice would have been stopped. And without rides on the Russian Soyuz, NASA’s astronauts would have been stuck on the ground from at least 2010 to 2015…the period between the end of the shuttle program and the start of NASA’s planned new manned spacecraft.
