Circus owner going into orbit
Circus owner headed for space.
Guy Laliberte was once a street performer. Now, the Canadian billionaire and owner of the Cirque du Soleil is planning a trip into space. He’ll be the world’s seventh space “tourist” when he’s launched aboard a Soyuz in September. He’ll be visiting the International Space Station.
During his 12 to 13 day mission, Laliberte plans to read a poem about the scarcity of water on the planet. (Is there a scarcity? Maybe we’re having more polluted water; or not as much potable water as we’d like. But 2/3 of the planet is covered by water…although most of it salt water.)
Laliberte is paying somewhere between $20 to $35 million for the flight.
