Astroland Rocket Is Lifed Off.

An icon of old Coney Island was removed this week as the 71 foot 12,000 pound Astroland Rocket left its home of 46 years.

The rocket—an amusement ride—was build by United States Amusement Company. It symbolized the early space age, with satellites, asteroids and early lunar probes. But, when it first appeared, in 1962, it gave riders a simulated ride like none other. 26 amusement park visitors together experience a 3 minute launch.

This video shows the rocket being removed.
