Venting Methane: Evidence of Life (or Chemistry) on Mars
Certain areas of Mars are venting methane. This seems to be a seasonal occurrence. It happens during the warmer summer months.
Perhaps most interesting, the parts of Mars where this happens are also areas that scientists say were suitable for the development of life. And, here on Earth, most methane is produced by living organisms.
Life on Mars…Now?
So, is there life on Mars today? Is it living underground, in the water that many believe flows beneath the surface? We’ll find out—around 2011, when we sent a probe that’s capable of doing the analysis.
